Backdraft Photography is owned and operated by Richard Hurtado.  Richard who is a Professional Firefighter as well as a Professional Photographer has been involved with both for over 17 years.  His love for photography dates back to about the age when he was 10 years old.  The first camera he used was a Minolta 35mm point and shoot that was given to him as a gift from his dad, Henry.  His dad was an amazing photographer in his own right.  It's easy to see where Richard acquired his talent and love for photography.  Richard lives and works in So. California and enjoys all that Southern California has to offer.

As a 17 year old aspiring photographer, Richard used his photographic talents as well as personality to gain access to media credentials for Supercross events as well as the Mickey Thompson Off-Road series.  Richard has stated repeatedly that the greatest Supercross race he has had the privilege of photographing was the 1986 season opener at Anaheim.

Now, as a career firefighter, Richard has combined his passion for photography with his love for being a firefighter.  Richard is honored and proud to serve as a firefighter.  Ultimately, he would like to be known as an amazing photographer, who happens to be a firefighter too!
